Santa Clara Vanguard — 2nd in Percussion

The “JONZ” performed an exciting program with unique “split-part” arrangements for snares and tenors, along with a nod to Ralph Hardimon’s iconic 1987 drum feature. The front ensemble carried many segments with musically dissonant arrangements.
Boston Crusaders — 4th in Percussion

Boston’s battery continued to impress with a demanding book and fun, physical demands with the field and the corps’ horn players. The front ensemble incorporated unique Remo hand percussion and drum products into the program as well as a standout timpani and roto tom feature.
The Cavaliers — 5th in Percussion

Cavies performed a demanding book, delivering consistent clarity and quality of playing. The snares played a controlled version of the “gravity blast,” continuing their trend of unique and fun “standout” features.
Phantom Regiment — 6th in Percussion

Phantom continued its tradition of consistent, high-quality programming. This included a lengthy snare break, balanced (physically and musically) on top of a prop. The tenors experimented with wooden textures atop their drums, while the front ensemble had extended phrases dealing with space and rhythmic demand.
Blue Stars — 7th in Percussion

Blue Stars percussion had a successful season with a demanding book, contributing to the corps’ impressive sixth-place overall finish. The battery implemented difficult sticking phrases of three and four strokes, while the front ensemble manipulated tempo and incorporated an exciting Latin percussion section.
Colts — 9th in Percussion

Colts continued to display impressive and consistent clarity throughout their percussion program. Their battery and front ensemble had extended phrases of density while handling space and control. And if you were lucky, you might have caught the battery repping “box drill” in the lot.
Spirit of Atlanta — 10th in Percussion

Spirit’s percussion section performed with consistent front-to-back clarity, including a demanding add-on snare feature with mallet players “do-si-do-ing” around each other while splitting parts. Spirit’s strong percussion section contributed to the corps’ return to DCI Finals for the first time since 2013.
Troopers — 11th in Percussion

Troopers impressed audiences with an immersive production both on the field and throughout the lot. Their battery maintained clarity amid challenging environmental demands on the field. The front ensemble utilized metallic effects and percussive sounds to add to the tense soundscape of the program.
