The Phantom Regiment is a youth organization dedicated to the development of self-esteem and self-reliance. It encourages team work, sportsmanship, civic pride and contributions of one’s personal best to a group effort. These lessons are learned through a musical and marching activity in which there is a blending of the arts and athletics.
The Phantom Regiment is incorporated in the State of Illinois and is registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 Not-for-Profit Corporation and is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors.
As the originator of all classical pageantry, the Phantom Regiment combines the complexity and grandeur of timeless music with the clarity and impact of world-class drum corps. The Phantom Regiment has received many honors throughout its history, including serving as 1996 and 2008 Drum Corps International World Champion. The Phantom Regiment is comprised of performers with previous experience as musicians, dancers and color guard members. The Regiment schedule is demanding and intense, including multiple winter and spring rehearsal camps followed by a 60-day national tour in the summer.
Members of the Regiment pay less than one-third of the total annual cost to the corps per member. The remainder of the funding needed to operate the Phantom Regiment comes from the efforts of the Board of Directors, the Booster Club, the Alumni Association, member fund-raisers, civic sponsorships and gifts from various corporations and foundations.
Membership fees cover some of the cost for instruction, food, housing, equipment and travel. Very little money is required out-of-pocket beyond these fees during the corps season.
