How to lace rope-handle on Buffalo Drums
How to lace rope-handle on Buffalo Drums

12” requires 7 feet of rope. 14” requires 10 feet of rope. 16” requires 11.5 feet of rope. 22” requires 14 feet of rope. Insert the rope to the right of the seam from inside the drum through the hole and back into the drum. Tie knot to the end and pull rope. For Buffalos with six sets of holes, pull and feed the rope through the holes forming a star; if it has 4 set holes, just go across from each other forming a cross as shown. Creating the Handle Bring the rope under the star and pull rope, bringing all end to center of the drum, same for 6 sets of holes and 4 sets of holes. Start winding the two arms of the star as shown. For the number of winding loops per side, please refer to chart: 12” = 7 loops per side on handle 14” = 8 loops per side on handle 16” = 9 loops per side on handle 22” = 10 loops per side on handle Once you are done winding on one side, bring the rope under to the other side and do the same process. To secure the end of the rope when you are done, simply pass it in between two ropes as shown.
