Gail Jackson lives and plays on the unceded land of the Dena’ina people in Anchorage, Alaska.
Gail brings drumming to community spaces, spiritual circles and celebrations. She drums with those that seek and are curious of her gifts of transformation, including women in prison, cancer survivors, and grieving families – as well as guests as birthday parties, elementary school students, senior citizens and at a yearly program for doctors at the close of their intensive six-month rotation of Transcultural Medicine.
Gail’s drumming career began in 2007 at a Born to Drum Camp in California. Now a professional member of the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild, certified through Village Music Circles and accredited through the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild, Gail adds: Rhythm2Recovery, Beat the Odds, Music Medicine, Rhythm Breathe and Lullaby Part. 1 to her offerings. She is the owner and founder of CreativeRhythms and served as the membership coordinator for the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild for six years. Also, a practicing sound artist and mindfulness meditation teacher, Gail presented and performed at the first-ever Gong Summit in 2019. She received an individual artist award from the Rasmuson Foundation in 2017 and a Fellowship in 2021.
Incorporating social justice and mindfulness to her facilitation, Gail builds community with each program. She secured grant funding to purchase her first set of drums for drumming circles at youth centers, community events and spiritual communities. Through drumming, sound, stillness and movement, Gail invites us all to explore, create and connect to the rhythm we all have: the “Heart.”
