Mike has been playing drums and percussion for nearly 50 years, and teaching for 37. He started his music education in public school band and orchestra programs, and at a local music center. After high school, he attended Bowling Green State University and studied percussion with Wendell Jones. He received Bachelors and Master’s degrees from BGSU. Mike is currently Director of Percussion Studies at Terra State Community College in Fremont, Ohio, Assistant Director of Bands and Percussion Instructor at Woodmore Local Schools, and he also operates a private percussion studio and small drum shop.  

He actively plays in the Northern Ohio area with several bands and performs in pit orchestras for local musicals as well. He is an endorser of Vic Firth Sticks, Sabian Cymbals, REMO drumheads and percussion, Duallist Bass Drum Pedals, Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzers, and JR Publications products. He is a member of the Professional Drum Teacher’s Guild, National Association of Rudimental Drummers (NARD), U.S. Association of Rudimental Drummers, Sabian Education Network, D’Addario Education Collective, Percussive Arts Society, National Association for Music Education, and the Ohio Music Education Association.
