Bob Bloom served as a “Faculty Assistant” to Dr. Babatunde Olatunji for his Language of the Drums courses at The Omega Institute, Rowe Conference Center, and Kripalu Institute for Yoga and Health from 1985 to 2003.
He performed as a drummer and singer in Olatunji’s African music and dance company, Drums of Passion in concerts at venues including: Lincoln Center, The Washington Monument, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York Town Hall, and Jorgenson Center for the Performing Arts.
In 1997, Bob received certification as a “Master Teaching Artist” by The Connecticut Office of the Arts. To engage, enrich, and educate children in grades prekindergarten to eight, he leads presentations of interactive drumming for arts-integration that are based in learning standards.
Entire groups, and their educators, get their hands around his cargo of Remo drums and percussion instruments.
Together with Bob, they launch legendary songs that have great melodies, uplifting harmonies, positive lyrics, enticing beats, and heart-felt rhythms.
He teaches professional development workshops on leadership skills for interactive drumming.
