Bahareh Moghtadaei, MT-BC is a board-certified neurologic music therapist and founder of Mind and Music Therapy Center. Bahareh is a master percussionist, well known for her diverse abilities as a musician, performer, drummer and multi-instrumentalist. Bahareh Moghtadaei was born in Tehran in 1982. At the young age of four she started learning Tonbak with Master Morteza Aayan and later with Masters: Amir Naser Eftetah, Mehrdad Arabi, and Mohammad Esmaili. She was among the best students of Ustad Esmaili and has accompanied some of the best musicians of Iran such as Masters: Parviz Yahaghi, Jalil Shahnaz , Farhang Sharif, Mohammad Moosavi, Jalal Zolfanoon, Akbar Golpaygani, Asghar Bahary, Delkash, Hossein Alizadeh, and Anoushiranvan Rouhani. Apart from Tombak, Bahareh also plays the Tar and Piano. She learned the tar with masters Hussain Alizaded, Fariborz Azizi, Houshang Zarif, and Reza Yaghmayi. Bahareh graduated from Sooreh University in Tehran with a BA in Music.

In 2001, Bahareh joined Rozaneh Ensemble, www.rozanehensemble.com. With Rozaneh, she began her professional career, performing and recording and has performed in many important music festivals world-wide and toured extensively in Europe. Over the years, Moghtadaei also became acquainted with some of the masters in World music and performed with them, both locally and on tour in the US and Europe.

In 2005, upon immigration to the United States, Bahareh pursued her education in Music Therapy at California State University of Northridge. Bahareh completed her clinical training for music therapy at Musicworx of California, a music therapy contracting and consulting agency located in Memorial Scripps Hospital, CA, where she worked on both behavioral health and medical units. Her clinical experience in music therapy encompassing numerous populations including, intellectual and developmental disability, autism, posttraumatic stress syndrome, substance abuse, wellness, Cardiac health issues, Parkinson, acute surgical, medical, rehabilitation, pulmonary respiratory, Rett Syndrome, and brain injuries. Bahareh also has worked at Ronald McDonald Children Hospital in San Diego, Northridge Hospital and Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and other facilities.

In 2006, Bahareh joined UCLA Middle Eastern Ensemble and SK Middle Eastern Ensemble as a percussionist playing the Riqq. She has had a lot of performances with Souhail Kaspar, Grammy-nominated and master percussionist in Los Angeles and Mendocino. A true virtuoso, her ability to improvise and embellish the rhythmic patterns of Arabic music and Persian music, as well as her knowledge of ethnic musical history make her one of the most highly acclaimed performers and instructors. Bahareh had a lot of workshops at the UCSB.

Bahareh is pleased to be associated with Remo as an endorsed facilitator. She maintains professional membership in the American Music Therapy Association. Bahareh currently resides in southern California where she practices music therapy and teaches Tombak and frame drum.
