John Yost, Founder and Owner of Rhythm Revolution shares with us his amazing experience bringing community drumming to major summer festivals in his home town of Chicago:
Rhythm Revolution Festival Season report 2022,
A big part of our summer business is made up of festivals. This year our two major ones were Lollapalooza, (17 sets in 4 days) and Summer camp festival 3 drum circles and 3 flash Jams in 3 days. We depend on our REMO gear for all of these because of their durability and the fact that they are virtually impervious to rain, dew, heat and sweat. After every circle we sanitize the gear with wipes.
Comfort sound to the rescue! At lollapalooza in the kids area, we also do short drumming lessons so kids can get their "passports stamped". They go to all the area's and get a stamp. They don't get a stamp from us unless they at least try to drum or participate. We love the personal interaction and opportunities to teach the kids and parents a little about the drums and the basic sounds. When doing this, we use the comfort sound heads on the versa drums. This allows us to lower the volume and not disturb the other area's and performers on the stage. We use the regular heads for our full on drum circle sets and the comfort sound for the individual/ small group lessons. Again after every use we wipe the head down. We are so fortunate that Remo the man and the company had the vision to create these tools.
