Alan White 1949 - 2022
The Remo family mourns the passing of legendary Yes drummer, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Alan White.
Alan received his big break in 1969 when he was tapped by John Lennon to play with The Plastic Ono Band, playing his first gig with Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival without so much as a rehearsal. The guitarist on the gig was none other than Eric Clapton. Alan also recorded the Lennon classics "Imagine" and "Instant Karma", as well as playing on George Harrison's album "All Things Must Pass."
When Bill Bruford left Yes to join King Crimson in 1972, Alan White took over the drum throne a mere three days before beginning a tour of America, forming a formidable rhythm section with bassist Chris Squire.
Alan was Yes' longest-serving member, having been in the band just shy of fifty years.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Alan's wife, Gigi, and his family.
