Eagle Scout, Ethan Parfitt, Making A Huge Difference With Rhythm

Ethan Parfitt of Stroudsburg Pennsylvania used REMO products to build mobile sensory percussion stations. This is his Eagle Scout project. He and his dad found the Remo Music Center online where a similar design of an **Echo Trail Sensory Tunnel was located. The Sensory Tunnel was brought to the REMO Music Center by Helen Dolas of Able Arts Work. Ethan and his dad thought it would be awesome to do a similar project.

Ethan's mobile sensory percussion station will reside at Mekeel Childcare Center on the campus of East Stroudsburg University of PA.  Ethan was enrolled at Mekeel as a toddler and wanted to give back to his “alma mater.”  The equipment will benefit children with special needs; but he hopes everyone enrolled will enjoy using the musical instruments.

His goal was to design and build portable, inclusive, and colorful stations that blended home-made percussion instruments and REMO products, which were donated by REMO. His stations include Remo Rhythm Lid bucket drumhead, Rhythm Club bongos, Frame Drums and Ocean drums, Artbeat Tambourines, Sound Shapes, and Boomwhackers. He also built some home-made Blue Man Group style PVC stations using colorful flip flops for paddles. Outside of scouting, Ethan is president of National Honor Society and a drummer in various bands at Stroudsburg High School.
