Trevor Jewett is a lifelong drummer with a deep passion for rhythm and human connection. As a Vermont Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, he integrates drumming with trauma-informed care to foster healing, regulation, and social connection. His private practice, Restoring Rhythm Vermont PLLC, is grounded in Polyvagal Theory, which envisions “optimizing the human experience by creating a safe and connected world.” Recognizing that trauma treatment is rooted in co-regulation, safety, and the “rhythm of regulation” within the autonomic nervous system, Trevor sees group drumming as a powerful tool to facilitate these essential processes.

Trevor had long envisioned incorporating drumming into his therapeutic work. When the pandemic heightened social isolation, he committed to using rhythm to rebuild connection. In 2021, he completed training in evidence-based group drumming programs, including REMO HealthRHYTHMS and Beat the Odds, and immersed himself in Rhythm2Recovery (Simon Faulkner), Brain Pulse (Dr. Jane Bently, Mary Knysh, and Lucas Coffey), and Village Music Circle (Arthur Hull). His dedication led to the founding of Vermont Wellness Group Drumming LLC in 2024, expanding his ability to bring group drumming to diverse communities.

Trevor has partnered with numerous Vermont organizations, including Franklin Grand Isle County Restorative Justice, Hannah's House, NFI Vermont, Northwestern Counseling and Support Services, UVM Tarrant Institute for Innovative Education, Harwood Unified Union School District, Mind Body Awareness, and Porters Point School. Through these collaborations, he has fostered team-building, non-verbal communication, and social connection. A standout achievement is his two-year grant with the Vermont Agency of Education, bringing over 200 drumming sessions to an NFI Vermont trauma-informed day treatment school. As part of this initiative, he established a drumline using REMO Rhythm Lids and five-gallon pails, ensuring students without access to traditional snare drums could still experience the power of rhythm.

Trevor’s enthusiasm for group drumming continues to inspire and engage diverse communities. Looking ahead, he is excited to partner with The Polyvagal Institute in June 2025 to integrate drumming into their Polyvagal-Informed Community Event Series, further bridging the worlds of rhythm, neuroscience, and healing.
