Special HealthRHYTHMS Experience:
On Christmas Eve of 2005, I did a holiday session for family and friends - most of them did not know that I was now facilitating drum circles. We laughed, drummed and enjoyed a wonderful evening together. The next morning I received a phone call. Our host was calling to inform me that her husband's mother, who was at the party, had lost her sister this past summer and had been in deep mourning during the remainder of the year... until she awoke Christmas day. She didn't understand what happened during that night, but all she knew was that the unbearable heaviness in her heart was finally gone and she was calling to say thank you for the ‘gift'.

In January of 2005 I facilitated a women's varsity basketball team. The team's performance was ‘O.K.' so far that season - about average for the school's previous records. I used the HealthRhythms protocol, with the addition of sports-related metaphors as well as some guided imagery to enhance on-court teamwork. We drummed together once a week for three weeks (after Friday practice). The girls, in general, felt this was a great team building activity, and the best news was, they went on to play the best season the school's team has had in several years.
Could it have been the drumming?
