Sharon Huang’s musical journey is a touching story of bringing world rhythms back to Taiwan and sharing the joy of music with everyone.
Holding a Professional Performance Diploma in Percussion from the Conservatoire de Versailles in France, and becoming the first Asian student of frame drum master Glen Velez at the Mannes School of Music in New York, Sharon returned to Taiwan in 1999 with top-level classical training. However, knowing that academic music can sometimes feel hard to approach, she chose a different path: bringing rhythm directly to the people. She founded the "TaipeiSoGood Frame Drum Ensemble." Using her friendly teaching style, she translates difficult professional techniques into a language everyone understands. Through her efforts, anyone—even without a musical background—can easily experience the simple joy of percussion.
Beyond her dedication to local music education, Sharon actively acts as a bridge for international exchange. Over the years, she has organized many cross-cultural musical events, inviting world-class frame drum masters to perform in Taiwan, including Glen Velez (USA), Andrea Piccioni (Italy), Murat Coskun (Germany), and Zohar Izhak Fresco (Israel). These special events have not only enriched Taiwan’s music culture but also greatly expanded the global view of the local percussion community.
As a proud Remo Endorser, Sharon’s belief in "connecting hearts through music" perfectly matches the brand's spirit. She has been a long-time promoter of Drum Circles, hosting training workshops across Taiwan every year. She also strongly encourages young musicians to step outside traditional rules and explore new musical possibilities through Drum Circles.
To Sharon Huang, percussion has never been just about shining on stage; it is a wonderful way to bring people together and spread warmth. With her magic hands and endless passion, she continues to create the most lively and touching rhythms in Taiwan.
