Nancy Brauhn-Curnes, MA is the founder of Djembe Jive in Loveland, Colorado, offering facilitated drum circles, instruction, and performances. She also offers an evidence-based corporate team building program, “Rhythm Works”.
As a former Special Education Teacher, Nancy was able to combine her passion for drumming and children with special needs. She pioneered and conducted an all-school drum program for 5 years that included students with severe needs and their typical peers. Nancy continues to provide her facilitation and instructional skills for special needs populations. She facilitates and instructs 5 programs for children and adults with cognitive/multiple disabilities throughout Northern Colorado.
In addition, Nancy serves as Artist in Residence in four school districts, offers djembe instruction at two recreation centers, her studio and continues to study and perform with such noted drummers as Abduol Doumbia, Tober Schorr, John Drace and Gregg Hansen. She also plays with Fale- the African Drum and Dance collective of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Nancy holds drum circle certifications from Village Music Circle (VMC), advanced training in HealthRHYTHMS wellness program, Beat the Odds student empowerment program and is member of the Drum Circle Facilitation Guild (DCFG).
