Born in Pietrasanta, Italy, in February 1983, I started playing drums at the age of six, inspired by my father, who was also a drummer and my partner in music. At 16, I began studying drums at the CPM in Milan under the guidance of teachers Walter Calloni and Max Furian. By the age of 19, I had started working as a drum teacher.
In 2007, I attended drum courses at the A.M.M. (Accademia Musica Moderna) in Florence. Four years later, in 2011, I entered the third professional year of drums at the CPM in Milan and graduated in September 2012 with a diploma in “instrument batteria,” under the mentorship of Masters Giovanni Giorgi and Roberto Gualdi. The following year, I continued private studies with M. Giovanni Giorgi for two years. Starting in 2013, I began studying drums with M. Gianluca Capitani at Scuderie Capitani, where I have been teaching since 2016.
In 2017, after nearly 20 years of teaching in various schools across the province, I opened my own music school in Montignoso—my hometown—called DMS Music School (www.dmschoolmassa.com). Since 2019, I’ve collaborated as a touring drummer in concerts and pop musicals with the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra (ESO), directed by Giacomo Loprieno, and in the project Omaggio a Mina, produced by AD Eventi alongside keyboardist Lorenzo Bertelloni (F. Gabbani) and singer Chiara Galeotti.
Since 2018, I’ve proudly been a worldwide artist and endorser for Tama Drums, Ufip Cymbals, Vater Drumsticks, and Remo Drumheads. That same year, I began composing my own music. Thanks to my passion for sound and recording, I enjoy filming in unique and unconventional locations. Many of my videos have been featured on major international drum platforms and shared by my sponsors. In 2018, I also started performing clinics, beginning at La Musica Gabbani in Massa and continuing in venues like Lumiere in Pisa, Alchemica in Bologna, Corsaro in Viareggio, and most recently, Merula music warehouse in December 2022.
In 2020, I performed as a drummer representing Scuderie Capitani at the Musica Expo in Rome. Over the years, I’ve gained experience with more than 50 bands and played in over 500 concerts. Since 2011, I have worked as a music director for many emerging artists—arranging and composing songs for Sanremo Giovani, Amici, X Factor, and performing as a drummer in their live shows. Notably, in September 2023, I performed at Zurich’s Hallenstadion as drummer for Il Volo with the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra and also took the stage at the Ariston Theatre.
In 2023, I launched a significant new project: the creation of a multifunctional space called DMS Stage (www.dmsstage.com). This venue is dedicated to hosting high-quality live music featuring both national and international artists, along with masterclasses, jam sessions, and music education.
In 2024, after years of writing original material, I founded the Noisy Shadows Project, a fusion and progressive band performing my own compositions. The group features Nicola Bertonelli (guitar), Francesco Gracci (guitar), Matteo Moscardini (bass), and Federico Gerini (piano and synth). That same year, we released our debut single “Seven Goes To Eight” through major international drum platforms.
