Glenn is the Percussion Director for the Felton Grove High School, Middle CreekHigh School, and Holly Springs High School. He is very passionate about thedevelopmental stages of young musicians. He loves to challenge his students togrow both as individuals and musicians through a diligent mindset. Jaylan hopesto be a safe space for his students and build a home for inspiration andextraordinary growth. He believes that being a musician means speaking a veryspecial language that has the ability to touch a heart without ever saying aword.
Jaylan has been a Private Percussion teacher for over a decade. His private studentsstretch across the state of North Carolina, covering about 8 schools fromintermediate levels to advanced collegiate level percussionists. His privatestudents have been very successful, participating in their respective AllCounty, All District, All State honors bands, and achieving goals in toppercussion ensembles in the WGI and DCI idioms. Prior to joining his currentensembles, Jaylan was the percussion director at Corinth Holders High School,where he built the only scholastic world class percussion ensemble in the stateof North Carolina. He also works with a rotation of middle schools throughoutNorth Carolina to help develop musicianship and pedagogical experience in amaster class learning environment. Jaylan is the Timpanist for the RaleighSymphony Orchestra, and plays occasional drum set gigs throughout Clayton, andRaleigh where he plays Jazz, Funk, and Rock!
Outside of the Pageantry Arts, Jaylan works as a Security Specialist, managing andtraining bouncers and supplying private security as needed to musical artists,and taverns. To stay connected within the pageantry arts, Jaylan is an activemember of the WGI Advisory Board and CWEA Advisory Board, where he helps adjustadjudication for educators and performers to enhance the general experiencewithin the pageantry arts.
