Hao Chia Chang

"A professional musician, a drum shop owner, a drum tech, and an educator. All rolled into one—"He is more than just a drummer." This is exactly what people in the industry agree on the most whenever Hao-Chia's name comes up.

As a highly active drummer in Taiwan today, Hao-Chia began his professional playing and teaching career back in his college years. He has performed live and recorded with many famous artists such as Deserts Chang, Mavis Fan, Crowd Lu, and The Landlord's Cat. Besides his work as a session musician, he has also been a member of bands like Sunset Rollercoaster and The Hunger Artist. With nearly 20 years of performing and teaching experience, Hao-Chia turned his passion for drums into reality. In 2014, he founded his own specialty drum shop—Backbone Music.

Since opening the shop, Hao-Chia and his team have put a lot of heart into repairing, customizing, and restoring drum sets, giving new life to many precious instruments. They have also worked as the dedicated tech team for well-known drummers from Taiwan and abroad, providing expert advice on hardware and on-site technical support. Because of this, they are widely recognized and highly respected in the industry.

In recent years, Hao-Chia has focused even more on promoting the characteristics of drumheads and tuning knowledge. Since 2020, he has been hosting tuning clinics all over Taiwan. Bringing along various Remo drumheads, he personally teaches students how to tune properly through hands-on practice and shares his real-world experience. Hao-Chia truly believes that by continuously teaching and passing down what he knows, he can help younger drummers build a strong understanding of tuning and gear. Ultimately, this will elevate the entire music scene and drumming culture."
