These codes indicate the inner diameter (ID) of the aluminum ring, which determines how the head fits inside the drum’s counter hoop. D1 = smallest fit, D4 = largest fit The crown size (playing surface) stays the same—only the ID changes to match various drum brands.

To select the correct conga drumhead, refer to Remo's style chart to match the rim style with your drum, and measure both the inner and outer dimensions (ID and OD) of your counterhoop.
