Louis-Daniel Joly's career as a percussionist began in the 1980s and in 1998, he became the first percussionist ever to receive a baccalaureate degree in Latin and popular percussion in Quebec from the university UQAM. Following a national career as a freelancer, he joined Cirque du Soleil in 2000 where he performed a series of more than 2300 performances as an artist-musician.

Following his return to eastern Canada in 2008, he obtained the title of "International Drum Circle Facilitator Endorsee", from REMO Inc., and shortly thereafter created his company, Baratanga. Since 2007 he has presented at more than 150 conferences and trainings about interactive percussion activities to musicians, music therapists, school teachers and students.

He obtained a master's degree in management from HEC Montréal. Louis-Daniel is now regarded as one of Canada's expert in percussion activities for schools presenting more than 300 drum circles every year. Louis-Daniel has also done significant work with corporations of all kinds.
