Ford Motor Company’s Warriors in Pink Teams up with Remo, Inc. to Help Fight Breast Cancer
Custom-Made Drumheads Featuring Autographs of Bands Such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruno Mars, Iron Maiden and No Doubt Will Be Auctioned on eBay
Valencia, CA., (Dec. 1, 2012) — Remo, Inc. an iconic leader in the music products industry, announced they are teaming up with Ford Motor Company’s Warriors in Pink to raise funds needed to help fight breast cancer. Warriors in Pink has already raised $115 million to fund breast cancer research and education during its 18 year commitment to the cause. Now, the California-based manufacturer is producing a “Warriors in Pink” line of percussion instruments and will donate $5-20 of each sale to Ford-sponsored charities that support research and education and offer financial aid for people in treatment. The Warriors in Pink percussion line can be purchased at participating Remo dealers and at remo.com.
Remo has been active in demonstrating the health benefits of drumming through Remo’s HealthRHYTHMS® program; An evidence-based one-hour protocol that integrates group drumming with proven health strategies to support individuals in their quest for well-being. In 2000, leading neurologist and mind-body researcher Barry Bittman, M.D., led a renowned research team in the first biological study on the effects of group drumming. Published in The Journal of Alternative Therapies, the study showed a statistically significant increase in NK (Natural Killer) cells, circulating white blood cells that seek out and destroy cancer and virally infected cells, after the HealthRHYTHMS drumming protocol.
“Ford believes that drumming is a wonderful tool in the healing process for the mind and body, and that is one of the primary reasons that the Warriors in Pink team is excited to further our partnership with Remo,” said Tracy Magee, primary brand experiential marketing manager, Ford Warriors in Pink.
Additionally, Warriors in Pink and Remo are working together to gather musicians’ autographs on a group of drumheads that will be offered for sale through an eBay auction starting December 1st. Participating bands include No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruno Mars, Iron Maiden, Korn, Sheila E. and Maná. The highest bidder on these exclusive autographed drumheads can designate their funds to one of Warriors in Pink’s four breast cancer charity partners (Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, The Pink Fund, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Young Survival Coalition)—exactly as they would when purchasing Warriors in Pink apparel at fordcares.com.
“As a company that works toward helping people achieve a state of well-being, we at Remo hope the partnership with Ford Warriors in Pink will empower some life-transforming possibilities for people facing the challenges associated with breast cancer and help prevent cancer in the future,” said Alyssa Janney, MBA, Health Rhythms Manager, Remo, Inc.
