ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Manton Daley, instructor of TMT Percussion Academy was born in Jamaica West Indies. At the age of five, he played the snare drum for the prestigious Saint Helen Band and received an individual medal for being the youngest drummer to win in a marching band competition. After serving nine years, in the official youth marching band for the country of Jamaica, he moved to the United States.

Manton continued his music career at Henry Clay Junior High where he played for various stage and concert bands. Upon his graduation, he attended George Washington Prep High and participated in the marching band, the vocal ensemble, and the orchestra.

While attending Los Angeles City College Daley played in several college campus bands. He transferred to Los Angeles South West College to focus on an undergraduate education in music education. Subsequently, He completed his formal music studies at El Camino College in their Applied Music Program under the expert tutelage of Debra Swartz. Daley kept busy playing in their jazz band, dance band, double jazz band and the marching band.

Highlights included; competing Fullerton Jazz festival, Carson Jazz festival, Santa Barbara Jazz Festival, and playing snare drum in a movie and performing at two bowl games. Mr. Daley holds an Associate in Arts Degree and now attend California State Dominguez University school of music to complete his Bachelors degree in music education. He is a proud member of the Jazz band under the direction of Dr. Stephen Moore and the concert band as the timpanist ender the direction of Dr Kravchk.

Professional experience is as follows, Daley is the former leader of the group Progression. Other accomplishments include playing for the grand opening for the blue and green line Metro line, assisting with the LAUSD Honor Marching band that marched in the Rose Parade.
