Shuichi Hidano is an innovative and versatile taiko soloist from Japan. Based on solid Japanese tradition Hidano brings new cutting-edge ideas with flawless technique on Taiko drums. Shuichi Hidano born and raised in Yokohama, Japan and began his musical journey studying drums and classical percussion at the age of ten. At 19, he began training with the world renowned taiko group, Koko in 1989 and soon started his solo career performing in over 1,400 concerts in Japan and 23 other countries throughout the world. Hidano high energy performances were first seen at the Closing Ceremonies of two consecutive FIFA World Cups and in Korea and Japan in 2002. He has also served as musical director for the Hanover Expo 2000 in Germany, Asian Performing Arts Festival 2004 in Vietnam and Aichi Expo 2005 in Japan. Hidano has released four albums as well as recording on other artistís albums as a highly respected studio musician.

Shuichi Hidano has assisted Remo, Inc. with the development of the first Taiko drums made from alternative drumhead and drum shell materials. They share their passion of tradition inspiring innovation creating new drums and new music and sharing them with the world. Hidano plays Remoís wrench tuned Nagado drums, turnbuckle tension and rope-tuned Shime daikos as well the rope-tuned Okedo drums.
