His belief that EVERYONE can play and sing has led to a passion for creating participatory musical experiences.

His collaborations led to the first Rhythm-Based Music Therapy training experiences for education and healthcare professionals.  These Rhythm For Life and Unity With A Beat! Weekends were blessed by the presence of such teachers as Babatunde Olatunji, Randy Crafton, Bob Bloom, Laine Redmond, Ubaka Hill, Arthur Hull, Alisandra Balloni, Gordy Ryan, Morwen and Jimi Two Feathers, Christine Stevens and many more.

Known to kid's around the world as "Bongo" Barry, His bag of 350 percussion instruments have dazzled and delighted children from age 1 to 100.

 As a Registered Music Therapist, workshop facilitator, and recording artist, Barry maintains an international schedule providing services to schools, businesses, and healthcare facilities for his consulting company, HEALTHY SOUNDS.

In 1991 he co-founded Rhythm For Life with the American Music Therapy Association, NAMM, Mickey Hart, Remo Belli, Barbara Crowe, and Arthur Hull among others.

Bongo B's association with Remo Inc. began with the birth of the "Drumming For Wellness" movement back in 1991. He helped adapt and design instruments that met the needs of Special Populations including the Drum Table.

 Recent awards include Drum Magazine's 2003 Best Drum Circle Facilitator of the Year and 2004 Kansas Distinguished Service Award for Arts and Disabilities from the Kansas State Board of Education.
