New pic of me playing "non-barbaric music" (my band teacher doesn't like my other band very much):

What piece are you playing in that picture?

It's an arrangement of "Yardbird Suite" by Charlie Parker.

Awesome. What's the hardest piece you've played for marimba?

I honestly couldn't say right off the top of my head, although as of now we are playing an arrangement of "Hoedown" from Copeland's Rodeo, which has a pretty cool xylophone part. Big Smile

We did that show last year. I actually wore my shirt for it yesterday. Yeah, that xylo part is bad a. Only one of our marimbists could play it up to tempo though.

I've never actually played it; only heard it. I don't think it would be too hard to get up to tempo though...

BEEF. IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER.

(Get it, like that old commercial that played that song... hahaha.)

It wouldn't be hard at all to get up to tempo.

After seeing a lot more marimba stuff, I've decided that it really isn't all that hard. About as hard as our all region piece this year.

It's not too hard; the melody is really easy. It's getting it up to speed that can be a challenge. It's easier for me only holding two mallets, but then I've never played xylophone with four. And as for me looking different in every picture, lol, that's the "refined me". Clean shaven and wearing glasses.

Edit: delmar, come on, you don't remember the beef comercials??? My friends don't even know it as "Hoedown". They just know it as "the beef song".
