When I marched with the University of Southern Mississippi marching band, we had about 315 people.

I thought we were a big band until we did an exhibition show at a high school contest in Pensacola-Tate High School had almost 400 in their band!
That's by far the biggest HS band I've seen-& they're good too!

Ok everybody. Now qualify band size with school level. (HS, college, DCI, DCA)

I'm a highschool band.

Because - That way we know how big the band is with respect to the organization. For example, a 150 person band is a decent sized band. A band the size of Wilk's is big for a highschool, but about the right size for a big ten school.

150 person band is big around here.

most bands in my area have less than 100 people.

Well, here in Texas...

Yeah, when I was living in Ohio, we had an 80 odd person band includin colorguard and we were pretty sizeable for the area. We played against a team in Columbus where the entire band was like 10 people...

yea, i do look young. I've always been the shortest on the snare line. But size does not equal skill level, remember that....I'm sure some of those college kids (SMSU) were kicking themselves in the ass when they found out the L.e.a.P. has eigth graders in the group after we beat them.

lol. That's awesome.

Is that when you joined? 8th grade?

I didn't know a buzz from a diddle in 8th grade.

that's genius.

But that's cool about having an all highschool and middle school line. I wish I was that good. I should work harder.

Hey you may look young but at least it looks appropriate when YOU wear that uniform; I look like a crossdresser: http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?eventorder?photo=04ER009F0P0004&start=0&album=0&adjust=-1
BTW I don't know if you saw them as SMSU came back to the gym to fold their tarp but they actually had a distinctly pissed look on their faces... although I'm not sure if it was about they eighth grader thing, as they probably didn't know their scores yet. Smile
By the way, according to the schedule, our bus leaves for world championships in approximately 19 days, 6 hours, 56 minutes, and 12 seconds...

HA! I didn't make it for L.e.a.P. A more appropriate screen name for me would be IWishWereTheQueenOfQuintsButIActuallySuckMoreThanPeopleProbablyThinkAlthoughIWouldReallyLikeToGet
BetterBecauseIKnowISuckAndITryNotToBeOneOfThosePeopleWhoThinksTheyAreReallyGoodButTheyAre
TerribleAtLeastIKnowImTerrible, but it didn't fit. LOL Wink

However, if you WOULD like to see a picture of me marching quints in my high school marching band (I was on tenors right off the bat there but definitely not because I'm especially good on quints LOL), check this out: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ilove25or6to4/detail?.dir=f429&.dnm=60e1.jpg
