I presented my first five Health Rhythms sessions in the ECE Community Day School where I teach "Music & Movement".
Population and number of participants: Pre-school/Kindergarten students and their classroom teachers.
Purpose: To reduce stress, to improve social skills such as cooperation, social interaction, communication, and self-control.
How I coordinated the event: I announced to the children and to the teachers that we were going to do something different in class, I told them about the training that I had just experience, and asked them if they wanted to learn something new and have fun at the same time. Everyone agreed.
Brief description of the events: In each group there were fifteen children and two adults. I followed the basic protocol of HR's. However I had to modified some areas for small children, for example: in "breaking the ice" we used egg-shakers and worked at a slow-pace, hand -eye coordination is something that takes a while for children to learn. I found this activity very helpful for that matter.
Welness excercise was accepted immediately. This is an activity that I've been teaching to them for a long time. I played a CD soundscape the children are very familiar with, and it went great.
Rhytmic naming was amazing!!! everybody went for it, same as Inspirational Beats, everyone was willing to beat/share an experience to the drum.
I know I still need work with guided imagery.
Overall it was an extraordinary experience for all of us.
Thank you to Health Rhythms Teem for all of your wonderful selves.
