Last night I facilitated my first HealthRHYTHMS after my training in Orlando. Fortunately, I learned what not to do. It was a small group, 10 were invited, only 6 came. I started the session feeling I'd be ok because I have experience teaching drumming, but quickly discovered this was a completely different ball game. It is also the first time I have worked this intimately with peers. But during the course of things I had a hard time surppressing the teacher mode in me and not taking over. We made it through all of the protocol but I had many interuptions, late comers, and with the ladies wanting to talk between each of the activities. So my flow of the protocol was not as smooth as I would have liked for it to be. These results made me feel that a personal area like the situation I was in did not work well for me. I think I would prefer a larger group where not everyone in the room knows everyone else. However, I'm not discouraged, evaluation results were all good, and I intend to continue trying.
