It wasn't really a case of waiting. I had abandoned it without really getting into it. At that point I sat down and worked at Musescore to iron out the parts that I hadn't really made the effort to understand.

To misquote following your example, it seems that it was a case of "Necessity is the mother of getting off one's backside and doing it".
