Thinness and smallness are the whole point of splashes. Otherwise the sound won't be very splash-like.

The most important thing is mounting. If you clamp it down so that you create a lever arm when you hit the cymbal, a tiny, ultra-thin cymbal will break, for certain. Let it swing freely on a soft mount, so that you never cause it to bend at the middle under the force of the strike, then it should give you good service.

I apply the same principle to all of my cymbals, whatever their size and however thick they are.
