Update on the Ludwigs: he brought me the 16x16 and the cymbals (which I was particularly interested in) The floor tom is white as snow inside. The other 2 drums were kind of cream colored, maybe discolored. It's almost like somebody re painted the 16, although I'm reasonably sure he didn't. No date stamp, and white felt on the muffler (red on the 9x13") Drum is in good shape, missing one wing nut on one of the leg holders, I bought a replacement today at the hardware store. so far, this is the only non original part.
The cymbals are an 18" A type (1960's) with about 6 rivets in it, and a about 19 and a half " Zildjian ride. Both are old, but not particularly magical. The hi hats are an exception, 12" thin and almost useless. Like those cheap ones you can turn inside out with your bare hands. They are stamped Meinl but they aren't too cool. There are 3 of them too, so go figure. Billy said he thought his younger brother got into them at some time and got those, he couldn't remember much about them. I'll get some more photos
