Sweet 'after' photo of the Jazz Fest snare. He swears got these new in 1961, but both drums are date stamped '63 inside the shells. White painted interiors, ball-bat handle mufflers with red felt. No serial numbers on the badges (which they started doing in '63 by law) Anyway, he played them for sure, but taken care of. Some play wear but not abused. This drum has that nice woody boxy Ludwig snare sound. New heads, new wire (old one was pretty bad) and some elbow grease. Had to dig in the parts drawer to find a piece of cord to tie to the P-83 strainer (no pinch plate, just a series of holes for string. Neato.
