This is pretty standard this time of year here, especially in New South Wales.
Sadly though, there is this nice area called White Patch on Bribie Island (about an hours drive north of where I live, we had smoke in our house lastnight!) that is mostly all burned down (a big nature reserve) -- it is where I got married! Now I have to convince my wife it isn't an ill omen.
All this fire is causing a heatwave, too. Temperatures could be as high as 40 (105 F) degrees over the next few days. The humidity here at this time of year is always really high, it makes for sticky weather. Thankfully my office is air-conditioned!
