So I picked up this little beauty for $50 from my dad's friend. I think it's a 13x2, but I'm not too sure. I was hoping you guys could help me out on this, maybe the worth, age, and why WFL is on there. All I know is that it's Ludwig, but it also says WFL on the rear snare holder(Technical term?). I Googled the drum and had little luck. I was able to find the snare system for sale for $100, but I don't know the validity of the price. I have about five pictures total, and I can take more if needed.

I'm not a vintage collector but I'd guess it's worth a lot more than the $50 you paid for it.

Try posting on drumforum.org in the vintage section. Those guys live and breath that stuff. You'll have an answer in no time.

Worth more than 50 bucks without a doubt.

WFL stands for William Frederic Ludwig. He and his brother started up together.During the depresion, they were forced to merge with Conn He later split and formed WFL.drums.

Ludwig was later purchased back from Conn and changed the name to Ludwig Drum Co.

I believe your drum is from that transitional period.Great score!

It's a lovely drum. One thing it shows is that fade finishes are apparently nothing new. I previously thought that they first appeared when they became popular just a few years ago.
