Hijacking a thread is always looked down upon, but not in this thread. Please take this one opportunity to completely change the subject with every post. Rules:

1. You must in some way reference the previous post.
2. It has to be drum or music related
3. Have fun

Andy's got a great idea, but who cares? Man, all we should talk about is how the Pearl Export is the greatest drum set of all time. If Buddy Rich could have been turned into a drum set he would be a Pearl Export. Anyone who disagrees has never played a real drum!

Speaking of Buddy Rich, when he was alive I used to give him lessons now and then. He had a lot of potential; so sad that he's gone. He probably would have gotten a lot better had he taken more lessons from me.

I heard Buddy Rich used a ps3 on his kick drum. Which IMO is the best bass drum head available on the market. Evans heads are so horrible, they lose their tone after the first hit. The only thing that is more terrible the Evans heads are Vater sticks. Promark sticks are the only way to go.

I'm still not convinced the Kickport thing is worth it. Sounds like a great way to blow $40.00.

I don't know but behind my set there's a lot of lard playing it. OH, you said lars.

I used to use a lot of lard when I was a cook. Had to filter it EVERY NIGHT!! OMG....too clean!! You didn't dare spill any on the floor because it would be really slippery!!

And LARS....well, that was my Great X 6 Grandad's name....Lars Anderson but we became LARSON after one of his sons came to america....get it....Lar's Son....Larson.

But none of that related to music or drums so I'm figuring I can bring this back around that Norwegian cooks always played drums....never guitar, or bass, or the cowbell....well, maybe the cowbell.

nevermind... Smile

Speaking of the "Mozambique Pattern", the word "Mapex Mydentity" begins with the letter "M" just like Mozambique. I think the Mapex Mydentity series would have been so much better had they included some of the "cool" sizes like 22x14, 22x16, 20x16 and 20x14. None of these are available at their web site. I mean, if you're going to advertise yourself as the alternative to designer drums, why not go all the way?

I'd like a designer set to look just like Travis Barkers'. That guy has to be one of the best drummers in the WORLD. Does anyone know any drummers that got more chops than Travis. I doubt there are...I mean, have you seen that guy play?

I just replaced all my pinstripes with Nyan Catskins.

Takes a few felines to cover a 16" tom......

Uh....tom cat ....that is.

My "studio" is actually located on the top floor of one of my barns. Years ago, mice were always a problem. Now I have 3 cats that live up there and haven't seen a mouse in years! Mice are destructive little monsters that can wreak havoc on musical equipment. Cats are destructive as well. They keep pulling the cover off my drum set, but at least they won't chew through my bass drum.

I agree, my chops are horrible in the winter. My hands cramp up and the only way to sooth them is to pet a couple cats in unison. Not the musical cats we play with but the feline type (not that there's anything wrong with that).

That being said, Did you know that Elvis has been dead for many years now? If you didn't, sorry for the spoiler!

Elvis played drums and I was thinking about adding a spoiler to the back of my Corvette.

Speaking of Corvettes, remember the TV series Route 66? And the theme song!!! A good friend (musician) of mine would buy old Corvettes, fix them up drive for a while then sell for a small profit. Fixing old cars is a fun pastime hobby of his.

I loved playing the song Route 66, swinging the Big Band style. I also like Asleep at the Wheel’s country version but I like Big Band better.
