Posted by: technique2012 Posted on: Feb 21, 2013 3:43 PM I would choose to meet either Gavin Harrison or Dave Weckl. Both masters of displacement and fluidity.

Posted by: pgdrums Posted on: Feb 23, 2013 9:48 AM This may sound crass, but I really can't think of a pro drummer I'd have much interest in meeting, at least not just for the sake of meeting him. I don't find most celebrities in general to be that interesting, and drummers are pretty far down on the list of celebrities. Let's face it, guys. What we do just ain't that special. My favorite drummer is Vinnie Colaiuta, and while on the one hand I'd love to take a lesson from him, on the other what he does is so far beyond my abilities that it might as well be a lesson in quantum physics. Maybe I'd enjoy a lesson from Steve Gadd, because there's a small slimmer of hope that I could learn at least a little something from him. In terms of actually meeting someone just to meet them, might be kind of fun to meet Buddy Rich. I understand he was such an arrogant prick, it might be kinda fun to try bringing him down to size. I'd also be interested in meeting any of Frank Zappa's drummers (which would include Vinnie C.), just to ask them about Zappa. Now THAT guy was interesting.

Posted by: Andy Posted on: Feb 23, 2013 5:39 PM I'd probably like to meet Charlie Watts. He's probably the most humble drummer on the planet and we share a common interest in firearms collecting. We'd probably spend more time talking about antique firearms than drums!
